Founded in 1883, Leggett & Platt designs and produces components and products for homes, offices, automobiles, and airplanes. Their first product was a new type of bedspring constructed of cone-shaped wire coils mounted on a wood slat base. This was used as a base for a cotton, feather, or horsehair mattress. It was patented in 1885. Until 1933, bedsprings were practically the only product Leggett & Platt offered. In that year the company began to manufacture springs for innerspring mattresses, a relatively new but growing product. From then on, the company diversified and improved its products within the bedding industry: rollaway beds, folding metal cots, bed frames, and bed rails. Today Leggett & Platt is the biggest supplier of mattress and bed components to the mattress industry. They also produce many completed products ready to sell to consumers.
SLEEP on it is a full line factory direct supplier of Leggett & Platt’s adjustable base program. It is also the authorized service provider for the region on the rare occasion that it is necessary to repair a Leggett & Platt adjustable product.
